Cost of Living in Australia for Students

The living cost per month varies between 800-1500 AUD per month including Shared housing (AUD 400-1,100/month), food (AUD 200-400/month), transport (AUD 80-120/month), insurance (AUD 600-1,000/year), and personal items. The cost will vary as per the location ex. Sydney/ Melbourne will be costlier than Adelaide or Armidale.

Admission Requirements to Study in Australia

For Bachelor’s program in Australia the students generally needs around 60%+ in 12th for Bachelor’s. For Masters the student relevant Bachelor's with Higher Second Class Degree from a recognized institution along with English proficiency IELTS (5.5-7.0+), TOEFL (60-90+), PTE, or CAE, depending on the course/provider. Australia Student Visa

Australian Student Visa also called Subclass 500 is required for international students to study in Australia. Student need to get admission into CRICOS Registered course. The student would need a) Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) b) Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) c) Meet Financial Requirements d) Fulfil English proficiency requirements) Meet GTE Requirements. f) Meet health requirements. The Visa fees for Australia is 2000 AUD.

Post-Study Work Opportunities in Australia

The students are allowed to work and stay in Australia as per the guidelines below:

  • Bachelor degree (including honors) – 2 years
  • Bachelor degree (with first class honors in STEM, including ICT) – 3 years
  • Masters (coursework, extended and research) – 3 years
  • Doctoral degrees (PhD) – 4 years.

There is additional visa duration given for students staying in Regional Areas:

  • studied and live in Category 2 area (1 year) (exceptions apply for Tasmania)
  • studied and live in Category 3 area (2 years)
