As per the Home Affairs website, lengthy generic SOPs should be avoided. The weblink has good explanation on what should be covered in the 300 words statement: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500/genuine-temporary-entrant?
As per AAERI's discussion with Home Affairs: The information about meeting the GTE requirement from the website aligns with the message that the Department has been delivering in various forums over the past 6-12 months. Specifically, we have been mentioning that SOPs have become far too long, and particularly when they are evidently generic, not written by the applicant themselves and unsupported by evidence, they are unable to be given any weight by the decision maker. Home Affairs’ expectation is that the student should provide a concise personal statement that addresses their personal circumstances for undertaking study in Australia. It’s OK for that to be within the form or in a separate attachment. In addition to the written statement , the student will also be required to attach supporting documents to ImmiAccount to substantiate any claims made and/or provide further supporting evidence that the applicant meets the genuine temporary entrant criterion per Ministerial Direction 69. Generic statements unsupported by evidence will not be weighed heavily in the GTE assessment.
