Extended post-study work rights

From 1 July 2023, international higher education graduates with eligible qualifications will be granted an extra two years of post-study work rights. The allowable work hours cap for international students will be increased from 40 hours to 48 hours per fortnight.

Two-year extension of post-study work rights:

Many of the students just focus on getting an I-20 without looking at Accreditation, Ranking , location etc. As a student you need to keep in mind that you are going to spend between 20-25000$ a year and spend between 2-4 years at the university. It’s paramount that you can justify time and money invested with ROI in qualitative and Quantitative terms. You can’t get visas by saying “It’s a Good University………”. Look for a University which has sufficiently good ranking, is properly accredited and follows standards in terms of GPA and pre requisite tests for Admissions. We are refraining from naming specific universities, most of you are smart enough to know what we mean.

Pre Requisite Exams:

Due to Covid many universities had waived SAT/GRE/GMAT and started accepting Hime based TOEFL/ IELTS and Duolingo. Things are back to normal and we would strongly suggest you to take a) IELTS b) TOEFL [No Home Edition]. Also, taking GRE/ GMAT/SAT shows that you are serious student and goes a long way in establishing your credentials as a bonafide student. Avoid shortcuts and try to fulfil all the pre requisites in turn gives in more options in terms of University’s thereby automatically giving you access to Better universities and better chances of Visas.

IMP NOTE: Home Editions aren’t been accepted by many universities:

Gaps in Education & Irrelevant Courses:

Due to short term vision and lack of seriousness, many students aren’t focusing on which course to go for. Its paramount to establish a link between a) Educational Background b) Work Experience (if any) c) Proposed Course d)  Future Plans. If the student is clear about these points, they would be able to articulate it properly to the Visa officer. Unfortunately, minimal thought is given to these leading to ambiguous statements during visa Interview and rejection.

Insufficient Preparation for Visa Interview:

Visa isn’t about Luck and involves a lot of preparation. Students needs to ensure a) they are applying for reputed universities b) fulfill pre requisites exams c) Know in detail about the University, Program, Location and future score for the same in India d) have sufficient financial resources.

Note: Avoid fake documents [Academic or Financials]
