Indians studying Masters in France can now get five-year post study work visa
Indian students studying in France can rejoice. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that Indian students who are pursuing a master's degree in France will now be given a five-year long-term post-study visa.
Earlier, they were given two-year work visa.
PM Modi made the announcement during his address to the Indian community at LA Seine Musicale in Paris.
“The last time I came to France, it was decided that Indian students studying in France would be given a 2-year post-study work visa. Now, it has been decided that Indian students pursuing Masters in France will be given long-term post-study visa of 5 years,” said PM Modi in his address.
France has consistently been a favourite study and work destination among scientists, managers, engineers, thinkers, artists, and writers.
The nation's vibrant cultural tapestry and deep-rooted heritage permeate everyday existence, while its unwavering dedication to embracing international students, coupled with the provision of exceptional education, renders it an alluring destination for pursuing higher studies.
France offers an extensive array of higher education programs, catering to the needs of foreign students, irrespective of their proficiency in the French language. These programs accommodate the aspirations of a staggering 2.7 million students, with 14% of them originating from overseas.
In terms of international mobility, France holds a prominent position as one of the most appealing countries. Ranking as the fourth-most sought-after destination for international students, it follows the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Notably, France stands out as the most popular non-English-speaking country among international students.
In 2019, 10,000 Indian students chose to pursue higher studies in France. In 2020 and 2021 too, France welcomed Indian students and provided special assistance to help them through the COVID situation.
